The final section of the Via Francigena from Viterbo to Rome, takes you ambling through the idyllic Lazio countryside and down Roman paths, across bountiful orchards of orange and lemon and lush olive groves on your way to one of the most iconic cities on the planet. Lose yourself in the streets of Viterbo and Sutri and be transported back in time through the many historical sites en route. You’ll finish our week’s walking in the eternal city, tucking into the world’s best pizza in washed down with a glass of Chianti.

Via Francigena Walking from Lausanne to Aosta
This spectacular walk sets off from the serene Lake Geneva and traverses the Alps to set foot onto Italian soil. The UNESCO listed vineyards of Lavaux will be your backdrop as you make your way to cross the spellbinding St Bernard’s pass taking in glorious Alpine views. The route takes in the stunning Rhone Valley and takes you on a journey through time in its many historical sites and villages. Pilgrims have been travelling the Via Francigena across the Great St Bernard’s Pass for centuries but bear in mind, due to altitude and weather conditions, this route is only open to walkers in the Summer months.
